The exact nature of this ‘new timeline’, and how it “lines up” with fragments of the D-Timeline (allowing the Grey NPCs or Goners, and the Mystery Man room to appear) is determined by the ‘fun’ value upon resetting. We’ll call this the Alpha Timeline, or A-Timeline. The timeline that Undertale is currently in was created when Gaster was erased from existence, and the world changed to compensate for his disappearance.

Presumably, this was part of his experiments with Determination, which might have allowed him to access SAVE, LOAD and RESET. This timeline was broken, and its pieces scattered across space-time, by the actions of Dr W. Before the start of Undertale, and before the incident with Gaster, the Underground was on a different timeline, which we’ll call the Dead Timeline, or D-Timeline.And thus, another part to the Goner Theory was made.įor those of you who haven’t read the really long posts we previously made on the subject, here’s a tl dr version of what we’ve already established in previous posts: Shortly after the post was made, and I were talking back and forth, making additions and theorizing further. I had a great time putting the original post together, and loved reading all the additions and reactions. Don’t read unless you’ve completed all three routes of Undertale!Ĭo-Written with the Goner Theory. Warning: This very long post contains spoilers for EVERYTHING.
